Bem-vindos! Bruchim HaBaim! Welcome!
Olá from Portugal, where I reside in a beautiful chain of islands! I am delighted you found me, and I look forward to connecting with you.
My name is Rabbi Georgette. I am a warm-hearted, thoughtful, empathetic, joy-filled, dancing, and laughing rabbi who is honored to journey with individuals, families, and communities in both times of immense joy and deep pain.
I have quite the colorful and adventurous background which has made me the empathetic, insightful, and grounded rabbi that I am today. I was born in Japan and have never stopped traveling, though my heart soars every time my plane lands, or boat arrives back, on my beautiful island in the Atlantic Ocean (if you haven’t visited the Portuguese islands, I highly recommend it!)!
I have served as a pulpit rabbi in New York (I often joke that Mantattan is the first island I fell in love with), Curaçao, and now Portugal.
Whether a Jewish, Jew-ish family, interfaith, or secular family, I am honored to be in relationship together. I am a proud African-American Jew by Choice. Becoming an interfaith family from the moment I converted, I celebrate interfaith and multi-ethic families, and understand the many considerations and topics/decisions to navigate when creating an interfaith or multicultural wedding and family. It is an honor to co-create meaningful ceremonies that fully reflect who you are as an individual, a couple, or larger family.
I consider myself a pastoral rabbi. I believe in relationship building, being present for individuals and families in the highs, lows, and everything in between, and want families to know I am here for you long after our initial ceremony together. It is such an honor to remain connected with the people whose ceremonies I officiate and often do multiple ceremonies for families over the years -both joyous ones and during times of loss. I look forward to journeying.
In my free time, I adore sailing, dancing, swimming in the turquoise sea, being in awe of the incredible world we live in, fighting for justice, and spending time with my loved ones.
